We hope this email finds you well. Each day brings new stories of tragedy and hope, providing reasons for both despair and cautious optimism. Words alone can't alleviate the pain and uncertainty that envelopes us, but we hope that by staying in touch with our members we're providing some semblance of community that has been lost to necessary social distancing measures.
Tomorrow we're co-hosting a Virtual Day of Action with our friend Genesis Aquino, who is running in the Democratic primary for State Assembly in the 51st District. We proudly endorsed Genesis because she is a community leader with a distinguished record of public service.
This won't be a typical Day of Action. In the midst of this pandemic, we want to check in on residents of the 51st District to make sure they are aware of the many public resources they can access in these uncertain and difficult times. People in this district have been hit particularly hard and we would greatly appreciate any time you can give tomorrow to volunteer.
Please sign up here to help with making calls here.
We will start at 1:00 pm EST. You can join the Zoom meeting for the Day of Action here then.
We hope you can join us tomorrow. It would mean a lot to us, Genesis, and the community.
We also plan to host our own resource webinars, one on voting rights legislation with Brandon Smith of the New York Democratic Lawyer's Council (NYDLC) and another on employment and workers' rights with Susan Crumiller, founding attorney of Crumiller P.C., a feminist litigation firm. The webinar will be moderated by our President, Christina Das, and Executive VP Julia Elmaleh-Sachs. There will be an opportunity for Q&A. We will send more information as soon as it's available.
Stay safe and healthy! We'll reach out again soon. The Brooklyn Young Democrats Executive Board
