John,
If you don't work at McDonald's in California, you might not believe the calendar they just put out after we went on strike to demand basic protections at work (like masks for a respiratory disease!!).
I'm not shocked at all. Just outraged.
This is the kind of stunt corporate pulls all the time. We make reasonable demands – a wage that pays our bills, paid sick leave because we're also humans who get sick, basic protective equipment (gloves and masks!) during a pandemic… but instead we get insulting nonsense like this:
WATCH the new video about McDonald's Global Pandemic Happy Fun Time Calendar – a list of ways to have fun on the job while workers get sick in a pandemic that's already killed nearly 100,000 people worldwide >>
They say we'll all get through this together, but who's "we?"
I'm supposedly an "essential" worker, but with no paid sick leave, no job guarantee, no hazard pay, no protection, I certainly don't feel like I'm a part of that "we."
Until I'm respected, I'll keep fighting. I'll keep striking and demanding better from one of the most wealthy corporations in the world.
Proud to have you in the fight with us too.
