The Amazon's in peril
You can make a difference today
Hi John,
Did you know one in 10 known species on Earth lives in the Amazon? It's the world's largest rainforest and river system—covering about 40% of South America! And it contains an estimated 150-200 billion tons of carbon.
The Amazon is utterly amazing. And, like many rainforests around the world, it's in danger.
In 2023 alone, tropical primary rainforests lost more than 9 million acres of tree cover—equivalent to losing almost 10 soccer fields' worth of trees every single minute! Deforestation and forest degradation caused by agriculture, illegal logging, fires, mining, and droughts—and the climate crisis—threaten vital rainforest ecosystems... and biodiversity and our planet's health.
John, can you take action with a donation right now to protect rainforests and other critical habitats around the world?
When you support WWF's mission today, you'll make a difference for vulnerable wildlife, fragile ecosystems and nature, from the Arctic to the Amazon.

🌳 Protect amazing species like jaguars, gorillas, elephants, sloths, pink river dolphins, and so much more
🌳 Conserve forests for billions of people, including Indigenous peoples and local communities that depend on forests for food, fuel, and medicine
🌳 Advance innovative programs like Forests Forward, which helps companies reduce their forest footprint and support on-the-ground action—like forest restoration—to keep forests thriving for nature, climate, and people
🌳 Stop deforestation and forest degradation, which both worsen the climate crisis
🌳 Create a safer world for wildlife and build a future where people live in harmony with nature
The link between the health of the Amazon and the health of the world is clear.
