Chair's Corner
I hope this letter finds you well and in good spirits. I am writing to address a matter of importance to our party's unity, strength, and future success.
Recent events have shown a concerning trend within our ranks: internal conflicts, name-calling, and even purposeful sabotage have become alarmingly frequent. This divisive behavior is counterproductive and distracts us from our primary goals—getting our candidates elected and supporting our Party's Presidential candidate, President Donald J. Trump.
It is disheartening to see more attacks coming from within our own party than from our political opponents. Whether it be through nasty social media posts, public disagreements, or actions that go against the wishes of our leadership and membership, these behaviors only serve to weaken us.
We must ask ourselves: Are we dealing with purposeful obstructionists, self-serving individuals, infiltration, or are we simply imploding from within? Regardless of the root cause, it is clear that we need to find a way to come together and work as a cohesive unit.
Here are some steps we can take to foster unity and strengthen our party:
-
Open Communication: Encourage open, respectful dialogue among all members. Let's create forums, both online and offline, where concerns can be aired and addressed constructively.
-
Conflict Resolution: Establish a conflict resolution committee that can mediate disputes and offer solutions. This committee should be impartial and dedicated to maintaining harmony within the party.
-
Unified Goals: Remind ourselves of our common goals. Our primary focus should be on advancing our party's platform, supporting our candidates, and ultimately ensuring that President Donald J. Trump is re-elected.
-
Positive Engagement: Redirect our energy towards positive engagement. Instead of attacking one another, let’s work on promoting our values and policies. Use social media and public platforms to highlight our achievements and vision for Hawaii and the nation.
-
Accountability: Hold ourselves accountable for our actions. Name-calling, sabotage, and divisiveness should have no place in our party. We must be willing to call out such behavior and stand united against it.
-
Inclusivity: Foster an inclusive environment where every member feels valued and heard. When people feel included, they are more likely to contribute positively.
-
Leadership Support: Support your leaders and the decisions made for the betterment of the party. Disagreements are natural, but they should be handled respectfully and privately.
We have a shared mission to strengthen the Republican Party in Hawaii and across the nation. Let's not allow internal strife to undermine our efforts. Together, we can overcome these challenges and emerge stronger and more united.
"A house divided against itself cannot stand." -Abraham Lincoln
Mahalo for your dedication to our party and for your commitment to making Hawaii and our nation a better place.
Sincerely,
Tamara McKay
