Hey Indivisibles,

It’s Meagan Hatcher-Mays, Director of Democracy Policy at Indivisible. I
have an urgent ask: today is our Protect Our Democracy National Call-In
Day and I need you to [ [link removed] ]call Congress and demand that they immediately
include election security policies and funding in the next coronavirus
relief package.

Addressing the challenges of this pandemic requires thoughtful and
detailed plans that rely on expert opinions and scientific research.
Instead, Trump’s lack of planning has cost thousands of lives and
immeasurable damage to our communities. He’s got no plan to help us. But
do you know what Trump and the GOP do have plans for? Corruption. Voter
suppression. Destroying democracy.

Last week I sent you an email about the Republicans’ handling of the
Wisconsin primary [ [link removed] ](hint: it was a fiasco) and how it was a practice run
for what to expect from Republicans in November. To put it simply: they’re
going to take every chance they can get to steal our democracy.

Wisconsin showed us how urgent the need is for election protections amid
the coronavirus pandemic. We’re talking about the possibility of millions
of voters, especially in brown and Black communities, losing their right
to vote without key policies and funding in place to protect the
election.

There’s some good news though: in classic Elizabeth Warren fashion, she
released a comprehensive plan last week that asks for at least $4 billion
to implement the reforms needed to ensure Americans can safely vote in the
election without sacrificing their health. And just yesterday, Senator
Kamala Harris released a similar plan -- making it clear that increasing
election security has a wide range of support in the party, and we should
continue pushing our elected officials to make this a priority.

All week, the Declaration for American Democracy Coalition has asked that
folks around the country light up the phones in Congress in support of
Warren’s plan. Activists have made thousands of calls this week, but now
it’s our turn to do our part for the coalition and flex our grassroots
power.

away and demand that they fight to include these emergency protections for
our election in the next coronavirus bill.

Done with your calls? Click below to multiply your impact by doing more:

policies and funds in the next coronavirus bill. [ [link removed] ]Click here to make
a video.

* [ [link removed] ]Donate to Indivisible Project to help us keep producing resources,
supporting advocacy and providing the tools and support you need to
push forward an agenda that prioritizes people over profits.

The stakes are higher than ever for our democracy, but we’re hoping that
together, with this digital day of action, we can make an impact on the
next coronavirus response bill and protect the right to vote for millions
of folks.

In solidarity,
Meagan
