Why I introduced the GUARD ACT:

Folks, take a look at this headline:

CNN: Sen. Menendez charged with receiving gifts from Qatars in new allegations in corruption scheme

Now take a look at this one:

Politico: Lawyers found classified docs in Trump's bedroom 4 months after Mar-a-Lago search

The first one is about a Democrat. The second one is about a Republican. What do they have in common?

Neither of them should be able to access classified documents.

If you agree, add your name to my petition and urge Congress to pass legislation that will protect our nation’s most sensitive information from falling into the wrong hands.

Earlier this year, I introduced the Guarding the United States Against Reckless Disclosures Act, or GUARD Act, which would prohibit any federal official or candidate who has been criminally charged for undermining U.S. National Security from accessing classified intelligence documents.

This includes Donald Trump, who is all but certain to become the GOP nominee for president and will soon receive classified intelligence briefings. And yes, it includes Sen. Menendez, who has been federally indicted on bribery charges and still has access to top-secret intelligence.

I’ve fought my entire career to defend our national security. I couldn’t care less whether you have a (D) or (R) next to your name. If you threaten our national security, you ought to be held accountable, period.

If you’re with me, add your name to my petition and demand that Congress take action to protect our national security by ensuring classified intelligence documents can’t be accessed by bad actors like Trump and Menendez.

Thank you,

Mikie
