Dear john,

Y'all, the Congressional App Challenge is HERE! As a mama, I know summer vacation is a beautiful time for families. Kids are home, summer camp is in full swing, and vacations are underway. But we also worry about summer learning loss. If your child is interested in STEM, I have a solution. I'm calling all middle and high school students in the #FightingFifth to create and submit their original apps for a chance to win the Congressional App Challenge. Students can enter individually or in groups. Winning apps will be displayed in the U.S. Capitol Building for a year. #CodeYourFuture

Last year's winner, Rishab, won with his app, Truth Guard. Designed to combat fake news, it impressed me, the judges, and my staff.

Watch Rishab explain Truth Guard here.

You have until October 24, 2024, to submit your app, so don't delay!

Juneteenth with the Du Bois Freedom Center

Vice President Kamala Harris named Juneteenth a National Day of Action for Voting Rights. We must fight all attempts to suppress the votes of Black Americans to achieve true freedom and justice for all. With that in mind, for Juneteenth, I joined in conversation with Mike Blake and The Du Bois Freedom Center on the link between voting rights and our freedom. Just like I told the attendees at the Du Bois FCenter, I will continue fighting to ensure everyone has equal access to the ballot.

Yours for the people,
