Today, Becca introduced The Stop Comstock Act, a bill designed to repeal provisions of the Comstock laws, which ban sending “abortion-producing materials” in the mail.
While federal courts have held that these laws do not apply to lawful abortions, GOP operatives have already plotted how they will abuse the Comstock laws to criminalize providers and impose a national abortion ban in future Republican presidential administrations.
In our post-Roe reality, when access to mifepristone (the medication used to end pregnancy) by mail is more critical than ever, we cannot let the Comstock laws remain on the books as-is. Republicans have shown us that they will do whatever they can to undermine our rights, and Becca is not going to sit and wait for them to take action.
