John,

We’re sure you’ve heard that over the past few weeks, J.D. has hosted nearly nightly virtual interviews with a mix of different people: medical professionals, Senate candidates in Iowa, baseball players, advocates for rural communities and voting rights, journalists, and even celebrities from hit Netflix TV shows.

We want to keep these online conversations with J.D. going -- but we need your help to host them. Can you contribute $5 or whatever you can to fuel our digital operation? You might remember that we used to send you recaps from our Don’t Forget About Us Tour of towns with a population of 1,000 or less -- and we thought it would be nice to keep up the tradition with some recaps of our virtual interviews!

Our first virtual event was with Heidi Heitkamp, the former senator from North Dakota and co-founder of One Country Project, and Dr. Eli Perencevich, an infectious disease doctor and epidemiologist at the University of Iowa. They discussed how the coronavirus is impacting rural communities -- something we are all very cognizant of during this time.

J.D. was SO excited to have native Iowan and professional baseball player Tony Watson on for a virtual interview. They discussed growing up in Iowa and -- of course -- playing baseball (both Tony and J.D. are pitchers!).

Dr. Megan Srinivas, an infectious disease specialist right here in Iowa, joined J.D. last week to share how COVID-19 is affecting Iowa, how folks in rural Iowa should prepare, how medical professionals are coping, and more. Right now, it’s so important to hear medical facts and information from reliable sources like Dr. Srinivas.

Last week, J.D. sat down (remotely!) with some of the Democratic candidates for the U.S. Senate seat in Iowa. He spoke with Theresa Greenfield, Eddie Mauro, Cal Woods, and Kimberly Graham -- and will be speaking with Mike Franken this Saturday after some technical difficulties forced us to postpone the original event (it happens to the best of us). It was great for J.D. to connect with each of these candidates to hear their vision for rural Iowa.

Last night, we were joined by two infectious disease physicians from Iowa, Dr. Dan Diekema and Dr. Michael Edmond, to talk about face shields, gloves, masks, and PPE for our frontline health care workers.

We hope you have been enjoying these conversations -- and if you have, we’d appreciate you chipping in $5 or whatever you can to help us keep running this digital campaign!

TONIGHT, we’re SO excited to be hosting our campaign’s first Spanish-language interview of this cycle -- Councilman Jose Ibarra from Storm Lake will be speaking with Dr. Rossana Rosa, an epidemiologist from Des Moines. And Saturday afternoon, J.D. will finish up his Senate candidate interview series with his rescheduled call with Mike Franken.

Thanks so much for your support. We are so pleased that we get to share these discussions with you, and we hope you continue to tune in!

The number one priority during this time is to make sure everyone helps mitigate the spread of COVID-19 in Iowa and across the country. Our campaign is doing our part by canceling all in-person events, moving to a digital operation, and supporting local efforts to help those in need. Emails like this are a critical part of our ability to run a strong campaign that can win.
