Oklahoma,

We are wrapping up another week in Washington that included bill introductions and visits from Oklahomans of all ages. Next week, I look forward to returning home to meet with local businesses and leadership and discuss how the federal and state governments can best work together to address the needs of our state.

This week, I introduced legislation to designate the bald eagle as the national bird of the United States. The bald eagle has long been a symbol of freedom and patriotism for our nation. It's only fitting we officially designated as the national bird ahead of Independence Day.

The Biden economy is unsustainable. Last week, it was reported that the Consumer Price Index (CPI) increased by 3.3 percent compared to last year - twice the rate compared to when Joe Biden took office. Check it out the numbers of Biden's failed economy in my Weekly Wrap Up here

I couldn't be more impressed by the next generation of Oklahomans. This week was extra special, getting to meet with two different groups of students who are eager to learn more about their government and how to make their communities a better place.

The National Rural Electric Youth Tour program, sponsored by the National Rural Electric Cooperative Association (NRECA), offers high school students from 44 states the opportunity to travel to Washington, DC to witness history and learn more about the political process. It was a joy to lead these Oklahoma high school students on a night tour of the U.S. Capitol.

Over 30,000 Oklahoma students take part in the incredible Oklahoma FFA program, which helps educate and prepare the next generation of ag leaders. As an Oklahoma FFA alum myself, it was an honor to speak with these young leaders alongside Senator Lankford on Thursday.

It's not a matter of if, it's a matter of when. This week, I joined Liz MacDonald on Fox Business to address the rise of the threat of terrorism across the United States. If Joe Biden is serious about our national security, he should secure our southern border immediately. Check it out here

Great news! Ryan Watson is free and on his way home to Oklahoma. Our bipartisan congressional delegation has led to the release of three of four Americans detained at the time of our trip, with one more to go. We cannot wait for Ryan to be reunited with his wife, Valerie, and his family. God is good!

Additionally, Turks and Caicos has repealed the 12 year minimum sentence for firearm offenses after the detainment of five Americans, including Oklahoman Ryan Watson. I'm glad our efforts have led to the repeal of a well-intentioned but deeply flawed policy.
