Dear friends of the Fund,

Temperatures are rising, and we can’t think of a more enjoyable way of getting out of the heat than going inside a theater. This July, come with us to enjoy the Tony-winning Best Play Stereophonic, plus The Who’s Tommy, Water for Elephants and Aladdin.

Thank you for supporting a life in the arts, and we hope you’ll join us at the theater this summer!

Stereophonic—now the Tony Award winner for Best Play—mines the agony and the ecstasy of creation as it zooms in on a music studio in 1976. An up-and-coming rock band recording a new album finds itself suddenly on the cusp of superstardom, and the ensuing pressures could spark their breakup—or their breakthrough. Featuring performances by Tony Award winner Will Brill (Oklahoma!) and Tony nominees Juliana Canfield (Succession), Eli Gelb (The Newsroom), Tom Pecinka (American Rust) and Sarah Pidgeon (The Wilds), with a book by David Adjmi (Marie Antoinette), an original score by Will Butler (Arcade Fire) and direction by Tony Award winner for Best Direction of a Play Daniel Aukin (Fool for Love), Stereophonic was nominated for 13 Tony Awards.

Nederlander Theatre
208 West 41st Street

In 1969, The Who created a rock opera that changed the course of music history. After witnessing an act of violence, young Tommy Walker—played by Ali Louis Bourzgui, making his Broadway debut—goes into a state of shock, spending his time endlessly and obsessively staring into the mirror. An innate knack for pinball catapults him from reticent adolescent to celebrity savior. Myth and spectacle combine in a fresh reinvention of The Who’s exhilarating 1969 rock concept album, Tommy, a Tony nominee for Best Revival of a Musical.

Gala 2024

Water for Elephants Producer's Picks
Wednesday, July 24, 8 pm ET

Imperial Theatre

After losing what matters most, a young man jumps a moving train unsure of where the road will take him. He finds a new home with the remarkable crew of a traveling circus and a life—and love—beyond his wildest dreams. Seen through the eyes of his older self, his adventure becomes a poignant reminder that life can begin again at any age.

Starring Grant Gustin (West Side Story, The Flash), directed by Tony Award nominee Jessica Stone (Kimberly Akimbo), with a book by four-time Tony nominee Rick Elice (Jersey Boys, Peter and the Starcatcher) and a score by the PigPen Theatre Co., Water for Elephants—adapted from Sara Gruen’s best-selling novel and Tony-nominated for Best Musical—is a deeply moving new musical that invites us all to give ourselves to the unknown.
