We're less than a week away from the first general election presidential debate, and we can’t allow CNN to overlook the most critical issue of our time: the climate crisis.

Right now, a record-breaking heat wave is sending temperatures soaring to dangerous levels in the Northeast and Midwest, affecting around 270 million people across the US.

In New York, the extreme heat has led to school closures and limited outdoor activities to keep students and staff safe.

A wildfire in northern Los Angeles County has scorched more than 15,000 acres, becoming the state's largest blaze of the year.

These extreme weather events are ravaging communities and hitting our most vulnerable populations the hardest.

Meanwhile, Big Oil is spending hundreds of millions to downplay the crisis.

And then there’s the elephant in the room: An explosive report last month exposed Trump’s corrupt dealings with Big Oil executives — proposing a billion-dollar bribe in exchange for reversing President Biden’s environmental policies on DAY ONE of his second term.

Will the moderators make Trump answer for this explicit quid pro quo at the debate? Will we get a clearer vision of President Biden’s plans for climate action in his second term?

The climate emergency is the most pressing issue of our time, and the American people deserve to hear what our next president plans to do about it.
