We are writing to ask you to contribute to Senator Chris Murphy’s re-election. But first, we think you deserve an explanation for why your donation is so important.

When he announced his re-election, Chris promised to run a true grassroots campaign because he knows that power comes from the people. Building a people-powered movement from top to bottom makes us that much more powerful and capable of making real change in Washington.

Truthfully, most politicians in Congress take massive sums of money from corporate and special interest PACs. For most Senate campaigns, this can add up to millions of dollars. But Chris refuses to take a dime from ANY PACs.

Most insiders in Washington think this is insane. Why give up millions of easy dollars to raise? And sure, Chris would be the first to admit that he took this money previously. But it’s not worth it. Special interests and corporations shouldn’t get to buy special access, and the people deserve to know with 100% certainty that working families always have and always will come first for Chris.

The reality is we’re leaving a significant sum of money on the table, so that’s where people like you come in. When everyone makes a small donation — just whatever you can afford, it adds up fast. Not everyone can contribute each time, and that’s what makes your donation today that much more important — especially before our FEC deadline.
