Prime Minister Justin Trudeau thought Canadians would like his capital gains tax hike.

Turns out about half of Canadians are already opposed to the tax hike, according to the pollster Angus Reid.

And opposition is growing.

Thousands of Canadian Taxpayers Federation supporters told Opposition Leader Pierre Poilievre to take a stand against the capital gains tax hike.

He got the message

“This job-killing Trudeau tax will drive billions of dollars of machines, technology, business and paycheques out of our country,” Poilievre said.

People get it: Trudeau’s capital gains tax hike won’t just hurt the wealthy.

It will make it harder for you to get quality health care.

Trudeau’s capital gains tax hike “will have adverse effects on physician recruitment and retention across the country,” according to the Canadian Medical Association.

The tax hike will also push smart, young tech entrepreneurs to leave Canada and take jobs with them.

“Scrap this disastrous tax hike on investment and listen to the innovators who are trying to create a more prosperous future,” reads a letter from the Council of Canadian Innovators.

The Conservatives voted against the capital gains tax hike, but it passed because the Liberals, New Democrats and Bloc MPs voted in favour.

Here’s the thing: this fight is just starting.
