Hi there,

When we interview candidates for an endorsement, we ask them point-blank what they would do to reverse abortion bans in their states if elected (or what they would do to protect abortion access, depending on where they live).

This is a critical part of our strategy because we know that if we elect many more pro-choice women who have a plan, it’s possible to reverse the abortion bans and restrictions already in place.

As we near the two-year anniversary of the fall of Roe v. Wade on Monday, we are more committed than ever to getting women in the rooms where decisions about our bodies are being made. Before we introduce you to one of our latest endorsements, will you pitch in $20.24 or more today to help support this effort?

Ruwa Romman is running for re-election to the Georgia State House District 97 against an extremist anti-choice Republican. Ruwa believes that abortion is a fundamental human right, and she has shown throughout her time in office that she will protect that right however she can. If re-elected, she has pledged to continue to fight to roll back Georgia’s draconian laws that prevent women from accessing abortions.

One of the first pieces of legislation that Ruwa co-sponsored after being elected was the Reproductive Freedom Act, which aimed to make abortion accessible for everyone in Georgia. However, Republicans control both chambers of the state legislature in Georgia, as well as the Governor's office, which means it will be extremely difficult to pass any abortion protections – unless something changes. We’re working on making that change happen by adding as many pro-choice female candidates to our support roster as possible.

In the meantime, Ruwa has been working to chip away at bad policy and to pass legislation that helps women across the state.

But she can’t do it alone.

In Ruwa’s case, and for many of our endorsed candidates, the bills to protect abortion rights are already drafted, and a lot of work has already been done to ensure that, in the event of an opportunity to pass pro-choice legislation, they’d be able to spring into action. For each and every one of our candidates, this is one of their highest priorities in office. That is why we are working so hard to get these women elected. We hope you will join us in this effort by making a donation today.

We need your help to chip away at the male majorities in states where abortion bans have been written. Will you help us rush support to our fiercely pro-choice candidates by pitching in $20.24 or more today?
