Hey, John,
There’s an old, old fable that goes like this:
One November, a grasshopper is wandering through the wilderness when he comes upon a colony of ants hard at work pulling stores of food into their ant hill. Winter is coming, and they need to be well-stocked to survive.
And unlike the ants, the grasshopper spent all summer long goofing off instead of preparing for winter—and watching the ants hard at work makes him realize he doesn’t even know where his next meal is coming from. So he asks the ants if they’ll share.
The ants laugh in his face. They’ve worked hard to stock up enough food to last them the winter, and they ask the grasshopper why he couldn’t do the same.
They tell him to keep goofing off through the winter and see if that will fill his belly.
The grasshopper dies because he didn’t prepare.
Well, yesterday was the summer solstice. The longest day of the year. From here on out, the days grow shorter. It will be summer for now, but make no mistake: winter is coming.
And if we don’t want to be caught unawares in November like the grasshopper was, then now is the time to start stocking up. The GOP will be hurling attacks and misinformation at this campaign before we know it, and we’ll need a war chest to fight back. And especially on a campaign like this one, the stakes are so much bigger than ourselves—this is about what vision our state will move forward with.
This is really about whether or not North Carolina will have the resources it needs to make it through the winter.
So if you’ve been waiting to get involved, know this: the time is now . The days will only grow shorter and darker from here. If we want to seize our moment—if we want to take our state back—if we want to win in November and build a better North Carolina, one that will have our people’s backs through hard times—then we need to stand together.
This campaign will live or die by the strength of our grassroots support, John. Can I please count on you to help us prepare for November with a contribution of anything you can afford today? Now is the time for ants, not grasshoppers. [[link removed]]

There is much work ahead to fight against Republican attacks, get our message out there, and transform North Carolina for the better. But together, I know we can do it. I know we’ve got this.
LFG,
Wesley Harris
