Hello,

Friends and neighbors,

With the recent damage from storms, many roads, homes, and businesses have been impacted. We are working with state, federal, and local leaders to coordinate efforts to best support our community and figure out next steps for emergency assistance

If you are travelling, updates on road closures and flooding can be found on Minnesota Department of Transportation’s 511mn.org

As the rain continues through the weekend, it’s important to know what to do if flash flooding hits your area: https://dps.mn.gov/blog/Pages/20240617-flooding.aspx

Another great resource, if you or your family has experienced damage from the storms, is the Minnesota Department of Commerce’s Disaster Response Guide

Key tips for filing insurance claims to your property:

  1. 1. Contact your insurance company immediately

  1. 2. Wait for the company’s adjuster before you or anyone starts working to remove or repair or replace property.

  1. 3. Inventory your damage.

  1. 4. Take notes of who you talk with and what they say from your insurance company, adjusters or repair services. Note dates, names and contact information.

  1. 5. Avoid scammers or high-pressure sales tactics if you are contacted by someone you don’t know, such as salespeople going door-to-door in areas hit by storms.

  2.

Question or complaint about your insurance company?

If you have questions, complaints or problems with your insurance company, contact the Minnesota Department of Commerce Consumer Services Center:
