By early 2025, countries are due to unveil new national climate commitments (NDCs) under the Paris Agreement. Ambitious new commitments to cut emissions by 2035 are crucial to limiting global warming and reaching net-zero by mid-century, but to be effective these plans should go farther.
Setting sectoral targets for 2035 will help guide domestic policymaking in ways that top-line emissions reduction targets on their own do not. Including sector-level targets can also catalyze investments and mobilize more concrete action on the ground.
During this webinar – organized as part of London Climate Action Week – leading experts will present the benefits of including setting sector-specific targets in countries’ next generation NDCs and lay out specific examples for how to approach targets for key sectors like energy, transport, buildings, food, agriculture and land use. These sectors collectively emit about 90% of greenhouse gas emissions globally. |
