Friend,
Anti-environment members of Congress are trying to roll back a critical, hard-won victory for our nation's public lands – and

we urgently need more Sierra Club members to help stop them.
Earlier this year, Sierra Club supporters helped push the Biden administration to finalize a new rule that prioritizes conservation, Tribal stewardship, water, and wildlife in its management of public lands.
But an overwhelming majority of House Republicans voted to overturn this important win as part of their pro-mining, pro-drilling agenda, along with a series of other dangerous bills that would strip Endangered Species Act protections from gray wolves and remove mining restrictions from a key watershed in Minnesota.

For years, the Bureau of Land Management (BLM) prioritized extractive oil and gas drilling, mining, and logging on federal public lands over the needs of communities, wildlife, and nature. When tens of thousands of Sierra Club supporters spoke out last year to demand better, they listened, releasing the Public Lands Rule – a major new framework that puts people and the planet first.
This progress is proof of our strength as a movement – proof that when we come together and take action, we win. But corporate polluters and their allies in Congress are scrambling to rescind the rule, and even block similar rules from ever going into effect in the future.
