💔 Denial of abortion regret adds to suffering of women

🌷 Bishops stress importance of right to life

☀️ Launching LifeLines Summer Tour for young people and more!

** British comedian writes about her grief after abortion
------------------------------------------------------------

Comedian Grace Campbell has written powerfully about the pain and sadness she felt after undergoing an abortion.

Writing in the Guardian, the 29 year old daughter of journalist and political advisor Alastair Campbell, describes how she was never informed by the doctor performing the abortion what she should expect afterwards or the difficulties she would have coming to terms with what happened.

She says she was never warned that she "might feel depression like I’ve never experienced before."

She writes about "a grief for something I never knew, but something I know I would have loved very much", and adds that every time the image of what happened flashed into her head "I’d burst into tears like a child who’d tripped and wanted their mum."

The refusal of the pro-abortion movement to acknowledge the grief and pain many women experience after abortion is adding immeasurably to their suffering. They profess to care about the welfare of women but their primary concern is and always has been about protecting the image of the multi-billion-euro abortion industry.

It falls to the pro-life movement to expose the full truth of what happens where abortion is legal. We have a responsibility to make room for the voices of women who regret their abortions to be heard and demand that the Government stop catering to the whims of pro-abortion campaigners by pretending there is no issue here that needs addressing.

** Italian Prime Minister puts a stop to abortion being included in G7 final text
------------------------------------------------------------

A paragraph promoting access to abortion was deleted from the G7 summit’s final declaration, according to media reports, after Italian Prime Minister Giorgia Meloni demanded it be removed.

At last week's G7 summit in Apulia, Italy, France and Canada sought to have the text included to “affirm the importance of preserving and ensuring effective access to safe and legal abortion and post-abortion care.”

It is reported that there was a heated dispute between Meloni and French President Emmanuel Macron over the inclusion of abortion in the final text, with Macron who is an ardent proponent of abortion, holding out for the controversial paragraph to be inserted.

In the end, Meloni appears to have won the day, telling reporters: “I believe it is profoundly wrong, in difficult times like these, to campaign using a precious forum like the G7.”

The Italian Prime Minister was attacked by pro-abortion groups in Italy for the brave and bold stance she took in defence of life. She deserves great credit for standing up for life in such a public way, at such an important summit meeting.

** Catholic Bishops emphasise the importance of honouring all life from beginning to end
------------------------------------------------------------

On the 16th of June, the Catholic Church in Ireland and Great Britain held their ‘Day for Life’, with a theme this year entitled ‘Compassion and Hope at the End of Life’.

Bishop Kevin Doran is Bishop of Elphin and chairman of the Council for Life of the Irish Bishops’ Conference, he spoke about the importance of this topic, saying: ‘Far from abandoning people who are living with terminal illness, we need to surround them with the kind of love that enables them to live life as fully and as richly as possible for the time that is left to them. This can be a time of growth and integration, both for the one who is sick and for those who gather around him or her’.

** 80% drop in abortions in South Carolina thanks to new law
------------------------------------------------------------

New figures from the South Carolina Department of Health and Environmental Control show that abortions in the state have dropped by 80 percent since the pro-life Fetal Heartbeat Act took effect.

Welcoming the news, Lisa Van Riper, President of South Carolina Citizens for Life said: "We applaud the public officials who ensured the passage and implementation of the 2023 Fetal Heartbeat Act.

"The 80 percent reduction of abortions in South Carolina is a stark reminder that public policy saves lives. May this be a reminder that lifesaving legislation requires policymakers’ commitment to the lives of the unborn. May it remind us again that elections have consequences especially for life.”

Planned Parenthood and other pro-abortion groups brought challenges against the new life-saving law but last August it was upheld by the State Supreme Court.

Governor Henry McMaster who signed the law in May 2023 welcomed the latest developments regarding the drop in abortions, saying it “proves that the Fetal Heartbeat and Protection from Abortion Act has been a success, saving thousands of innocent lives and putting an end to South Carolina’s reputation as an abortion destination.”
