Dear John --

National is the party of infrastructure and, in Government, we’re moving at pace to remove the hurdles standing in the way of getting stuff built.

Investing in infrastructure is a key part of our plan to rebuild the economy and we’ve got so much in the pipeline already.

We’re accelerating progress on 17 new Roads of National Significance to get you where you need to be quickly and safely, we’re investing $1.5 billion into better schools so our kids can learn in warm and dry classrooms, and we’re expanding Waikeria Prison to help us restore law and order.

We’re creating a 30-year infrastructure pipeline so Kiwis have certainty that we’ll have the roads, schools and hospitals we need to accommodate growth and and so we can attract consistent investment into New Zealand.

But it’s also about removing barriers and cutting red tape to enable these projects to be done more quickly.

Just this week, we announced changes to let you build a granny flat on your property without the need for cumbersome and expensive bureaucratic processes, which could save you $6,500 in building and resourcing consent fees alone.

We used to be able to do stuff like this, so let’s get on with it.

Our economy relies on us being able to build the roads, schools, hospitals and houses this country needs, and National is taking action to make sure we can.

Thank you,
Christopher
