Dear friend,
This is massive.
This week the G20 has announced that debt payments will be suspended in 2020 for 77 of the least well-off countries to help with the fight against coronavirus. That's an estimated $12 billion worth of debt.
This would not have been possible without people like you taking action in solidarity with tens of thousands around the world, signing petitions, tweeting, emailing and sharing our campaign. Well done, we did it!
But we can't stop there.
What's been announced is a first step, but a lot more needs to be done. This is only a suspension, not a cancellation ([link removed]) . We need a properly mandated international process to cancel the debts for these countries, and we need to make sure all lenders cancel debts, including private lenders.
How do we do this? Join our webinar on Thursday 22 April to find out.

One huge concern now is what happens if and when coronavirus really catches hold in countries where health systems are weak. In Mali, there are only 20 ventilators for a population of 19 million. In Haiti, there are 64 ventilators to cover 11 million people. We need to push to get more debt cancelled, to keep money in countries to spend on essential healthcare.
For now, thank you and well done! You have helped support people around the world in the face of this pandemic. As long-term supporters of Jubilee Debt Campaign your role has been and will be key in us winning more positive change.
As ever, stay safe and we wish you all the best.
In solidarity,
Eva, Zak, Sarah, Tim and Abi and the whole team at Jubilee Debt Campaign
P.S We have a full debrief ([link removed]) of the week's actions if you want to catch up before the webinar
