There was a time when Americans overcame tremendous natural barriers to build great infrastructure projects that transformed the nation into an agro-industrial power house. With the Erie Canal and the Croton Aqueduct as a model, New York State, especially through the development of the Army Corp of Engineers at West Point, led the way in these great endeavors throughout the nation, and, in fact, throughout the world.

As my campaign has stated, today we must turn “swords into plowshares” and put our great capabilities back towards the mission of building for mankind instead of destroying on behalf of a decadent and desperate financial oligarchy. The world is moving towards win-win cooperation based on peaceful development. It’s time for the United States to resume its historic role as the American Republic, not the British Empire.
