Executive Order to Create Conditional Method for Long-Term Immigrant Spouses of U.S. Citizens to Obtain Work Permits - On Tuesday, June 18, the Biden Administration issued an executive order to create a method for long-term unauthorized immigrants who are married to U.S. citizens and can pass background checks to obtain work permits through an established process called parole in place. To avoid creating a pull factor for illegal immigration, the program will require applicants to have been continuously present in the United States for at least 10 years and have a legally valid marriage to a U.S. citizen as of June 17, 2024. The order will also seek to streamline processes for employers to sponsor work permits for DACA recipients and non-citizens who graduate from U.S. colleges. These policies are reportedly supported by 76% of U.S. Voters.

Congressman Keith Self’s NDAA Amendment to Rename Spearhead-class Vessel After American Hero Passes the House - “During his storied career, Lieutenant General Richard E. Carey served in World War II, fought in iconic battles including the Inchon Landing and Chosin Reservoir in Korea, then later flew the F-4 Phantom in Vietnam combat operations and directed the evacuation of Saigon,” said Congressman Keith Self. “From the time he enlisted in the Navy, up until his retirement as Lieutenant General in the Marine Corps, Carey has proven to be relentless in battle. It is with the highest honor that we name this vessel to commemorate his legacy.”

Congressman Moran Leads Resolution to Hold Biden Administration Accountable for Dangerous Pro-Abortion Policies - Congressman Nathaniel Moran led nearly 40 House Republicans in introducing a resolution to condemn the Biden administration’s Food and Drug Administration (FDA) for lessening patient safeguards for dangerous abortion drugs and jeopardizing the health of women and girls. In 2023, the FDA further loosened standards for the abortion drugs, removing the requirement that a health care provider dispense mifepristone to a patient in person. This update eliminated a health care provider’s ability to confirm pregnancy, determine gestational age, and assess for life-threatening ectopic pregnancy; verify that an intrauterine device (IUD) is not in place or is removed before a chemical abortion; evaluate Rh status and prevent an immune response to future unborn children; and potentially provide surgical intervention in the five to eight percent of chases where chemical abortion fails.
