Dear John,
A small grant can be the seed that grows an organization that transforms a country.
That’s what happened to Basanta Adhikari, founder and executive director of Bikalpa – An Alternative, an Atlas Network partner in Nepal.
He launched Bikalpa in 2014, and by the following year, he was operating out of a one-room office with minimal resources.
In 2017, he was awarded a $250 grant from Atlas Network to help him travel from Biratnagar, Nepal to Mumbai, India to attend the 2017 Asia Liberty Forum.
He credits the event for helping him grow personally and professionally. It helped him gain knowledge, learn new skills, network, and gain exposure for Bikalpa.
His experience at the event helped him grow Bikalpa, culminating with a huge win in 2023…
Bikalpa led the effort in Nepal to make obtaining a motorbike license easier. They pressured the government to open seven new license centers (essentially, DMVs) in their province.
For 4.5 million potential riders, this reduced the waiting period from three years to two weeks, a night and day difference for those dependent on motorbikes to earn a living.
…and the seed was planted six years prior with a modest grant from Atlas Network.
For our end-of-quarter fundraising drive, we’re specifically seeking small, monthly gifts because even $10 or $25 can make a big impact and help transform the economy for an entire country.
Please join us in support of free enterprise by sending your first gift to Atlas Network before the end of the quarter.
A generous Atlas Network donor will match each and every one of your recurring gifts for a full year.
Thank you,
Vale Sloane
Director of Development
