John,
Next week folks will be flocking to Atlanta for the first Presidential Debate of 2024, and it's no coincidence they chose Georgia for the debate:
1️⃣ It's being held right in the center of Fulton County, which is where Trump became the first former president to be indicted on felony charges in Georgia for election interference in 2020.
2️⃣ It's less than a mile from State Farm Arena, the same ballot processing site that Trump (and his henchmen) spread conspiracy theories about for "illicit" votes. |
3️⃣ Because of voters in our district last cycle, President Biden won – making Georgia a crucial swing stage in the 2024 election. |
All eyes have been on Georgia since 2020, but for different reasons.
To Democrats: After four years of Trump, voters in CD 4 are the reason why Georgia flipped blue. We made sure to elect folks up and down the ballot that would protect the integrity of our representative democracy and electoral institutions. According to folks across the country, we're what secured a Biden presidency – and they're counting on us to do it again.
But to Republicans: It was because of unsafe elections and "cheating democrats" that Trump lost the election (not the fact that he didn't have the skills or experience to be president and failed miserably). Nevertheless, after public officials wouldn't let him overturn the 2020 election results, he made sure to empower right-wing extremists across the state with the hope that this year he'll get his way. |
Not only do my seat, the progressive coalition in Congress, and President Biden's win depend on voters in our Congressional district, but so does our Democracy. |
