With summer in full swing, many people from our community will be traveling domestically and internationally in the coming months. To help everyone make the most of it, on Monday, July 1st, at 2pm CDT, I will be hosting a town hall with a panel of experts to discuss the best travel preparation tips and tricks and provide participants with the opportunity to ask questions of travel experts. You can RSVP for the town hall here, and I hope to see you there.

Congressman Krishnamoorthi tests the new electric bike he secured for the Palatine Police Department after presenting it with $50,000 in federal funding.

On Monday, I presented a check for $50,000 in federal community project funding I secured for the Palatine Police Department (PPD) to purchase new electric motorcycles for its vehicle fleet. The motorcycles will allow PPD officers to patrol previously inaccessible areas of the village, including paved trails and paths through parks, broadening the reach of the department and expanding community safety for everyone. The electric bikes will build on the commitment to embrace electric vehicles (EVs) and clean energy alternatives. This funding I was proud to secure will increase community safety within Palatine and help the village’s public departments begin a transition to greener, more climate-friendly transportation.

On Tuesday, I sent a letter to U.S. Census Bureau Director Robert Santos and Population Division Chief Dr. Sandra Johnson expressing my concern about the recently released Vintage 2023 report, which showed five communities, Rosemont, Streamwood, Elk Grove Village, Mount Prospect, and Palatine, experienced population losses of greater than four percent. This significant number is in direct contrast to what local stakeholders, leaders, and residents of the five villages have told me and call into question the validity of the data released by the Census Bureau. This troubling data release comes following the Bureau’s dramatic miscount in 2020, where it missed 46,400 Illinois residents, potentially costing Illinois direct representation in the federal government and federal funding for critical services such as public transportation and health care. I am urging the Bureau to address this issue by providing a public explanation citing the data collection methods used. You can read the full letter here.
