Watching the Phillies trounce the Padres at Citizens Bank Park with my parents on Monday was the best Father’s Day gift.

My father’s childhood experiences playing cricket in India led him to follow baseball and become an avid Phillies fan. He passed on his love for the game to me and my brother. Decades after taking in games in Veterans Stadium’s $1 seats, spending another summer evening at the park together was pure joy.

When Alec Bohm blasted a 3-run homer in the 5th inning, everyone jumped to their feet and started high-fiving. That’s one of my favorite parts about baseball. It’s not just the joy of the game but a real community that brings people together from all walks of life.
