Last year, 114 million people were displaced by war, violence, and persecution according to the UN Refugee Agency.

8.6 million people in Sudan have been displaced after over a year of civil war.

6.1 million people in the Democratic Republic of the Congo have been displaced due to ongoing violence.

1.7 million people in Gaza, 75% of its population, have been displaced since conflict erupted.

Amidst the world’s largest refugee crises, women and girls are most vulnerable. That’s why UNFPA is among the first on the ground during times of crisis to ensure refugee women and newborns receive the lifesaving care they urgently need after displacement.

Today, on World Refugee Day, we’re asking you to make a special gift that will deliver aid, care, and protection to displaced women and girls around the globe:

DELIVER LIFESAVING CARE

When you make a gift, you’re delivering lifesaving health services and supplies to women and girls who have been displaced. Your support ensures that UNFPA can:

  • Distribute Emergency Birth Kits that help refugee pregnant women avoid infection when childbirth takes place in a crisis situation.
  • Provide safe spaces for refugee survivors of sexual violence and deliver essential health services.
  • Distribute Dignity Kits that provide refugee women and girls with the supplies they need to manage their periods and their health.
  • Deploy health care teams and midwives who provide sexual and reproductive health care to refugees.

“They offered us a lifeline,” Amina, a displaced woman who UNFPA reached with violence response and prevention services, told us.

“The feeling that there is someone who cares about you, especially as a displaced person, means so much,” said Samia, another woman from Sudan.

This World Refugee Day, support refugee women and newborns displaced by conflicts and wars by making a gift. Every donation counts to those whose health and needs are too often overlooked the moment crisis hits.

DELIVER LIFESAVING CARE

Thank you for being there for women and girls, today and always.
