The other day, I spoke with a woman who said she’d been “scared” of Medicare for All previously.
She told me she has good insurance, but then went on to describe the terrible experience so many other people have with their private insurers — incorrect bills, denied claims, and hours spent fighting to ensure her husband, who has liver disease, gets the care he needs.
As she spoke, she recognized the absurdity of our system. We talked about how those hours spent on the phone should be hours spent with her husband. How it shouldn’t be a constant fight just to stay alive.
These stories are infuriating. I hang up the phone enraged by our system that lets people die to turn a profit. That rage drives me to keep fighting so that you, and every person in this country, are guaranteed comprehensive healthcare free at the point of service.

PS: If we want Medicare for All, we need to elect a senator from Delaware who will fight to pass it. Can you sign up to phonebank so that we can finally guarantee healthcare as a right?
