John,
This World Refugee Day, I’m standing with kids like Yaqub*.
He was born in Sudan just over six months ago – not in a hospital, but a shelter for displaced people. When fighting broke out in April 2023, his family had to pack up and flee.
Yaqub’s mom, Nafeesa*, remembers a time before conflict. She had a safe home in Sudan’s capital, with access to health care and a steady income.
It’s the kind of life her son may never see. Now, Nafeesa says her family wouldn’t survive without humanitarian aid and the kindness of neighbors.
6.8 million Sudanese people are internally displaced, John. Can you spare a moment to support them?
Over the past year, half of Sudan’s children have been within three miles of the conflict's frontline – exposed to escalating gunfire, shelling and deadly violence.
90% of schools were forced to close their doors, locking nearly 19 million kids out of learning. Many don’t even have basic supplies, like food, water, clean clothes or beds to sleep in.
This is no way to grow up, John .
Baby Yaqub has known nothing but war. Help us fight for the support he desperately needs.
Thanks for using your voice – on World Refugee Day and every day.
