Jeff’s journey on this nightmare started in May 2020, when hundreds of protestors gathered outside the Austin Police Department’s Eighth Street headquarters to protest the death of George Floyd.
Jeff and dozens of other Austin Police Department officers stepped up to help control the crowd, to ensure it was peaceful, and to protect life, limb, and property…
… but the protesters’ energy began to swell, and they started throwing rocks, frozen water bottles, fireworks, and other dangerous objects at the police.
The city was erupting. Buildings were damaged, vandalized, and looted. Vehicles
belonging to the police department and innocent people were destroyed and set on fire.
It took nearly all of the city’s 2,100-strong police force, including Jeff Teng, to keep the city from descending into total anarchy.
When Jeff’s partner was struck by a projectile, the officers deployed non-lethal rounds at the rioters that were attempting to harm the officers in an attempt to de-escalate the situation.
But for the radical District Attorney José Garza, the riot was not the crime -- but the police trying to stop the riot!
Garza is prosecuting Jeff for firing non-lethal bean bags to stop a riot.
That’s outrageous!
