About two weeks ago we heard State Department Spokesperson Matthew Miller say something unforgivable: “Israel has a right to try and target those civilians”.

It was a statement that they later tried to clarify by suggesting when he said “those civilians” he actually meant “Hamas fighters”.

Regardless of intent it was a cold statement that sent a shiver down the spine of every American with a conscience. It’s still a moment that’s hard to shake off considering the tens of thousands of innocent men, women, and children who have died in gaza.

Fast forward to Monday and Matthew Miller once again reminds us why the Biden Administration can’t be trusted to protect human rights here and abroad.

“One is a convicted supporter of terrorism.”

“Another has openly called for the ethnic cleansing of Palestinians.”

When asked if our government was concerned about these two ministers directing war policy.

A war policy that has resulted in the murder of dozens, sometimes hundreds of Palestinians every single day, aided by direct, material support from the United States government. 

Matthew Miller stayed true to the Biden Administration’s foreign policy doctrine: Pass up every opportunity to defend human rights and pretend our nation holds leverage that could end this genocide.

We can’t give up. 

We can’t give in. 

We must act.
