Columbia University Professor Warns Students Away From Mainstream Media Because “it is owned by Jews”

Fox News: The Columbia University task force on campus antisemitism has reported a string of disturbing incidents at the Ivy League university, exposing what it characterized as the “harassment of Jewish students” and antisemitic remarks made by professors – including one who reportedly told his class to avoid the mainstream media because “it is owned by Jews.” Task force members who spoke with Israeli publication Haaretz described a pattern of anti-Jewish bias at the Manhattan university, which has been plagued by anti-Israel protests since the October 7th Hamas massacre. Jewish and Israeli students regularly felt “targeted and ostracized” on campus, and were often singled out in the classroom, task force members told the paper (Fox News). Just the News: The report also noted that some professors had encouraged students to take part in the anti-Israel protests on campus or in the Gaza Solidarity Encampment. Some students said they were offered extra credit, and even conducted classes at the demonstrations. Columbia has experienced many anti-Israel protests throughout the year, resulting in the school’s commencement being canceled (Just the News).

Biden Looks to Indefinitely Dismantle $230 Million Gaza Pier
This has been an absolute waste of time, effort and resources. Spencer Brown: The Biden administration’s decision to spend $230 million worth of hardworking Americans’ tax dollars on a “humanitarian pier” off the coast of Gaza seemed ill-advised from the start. Predictably, the pier was a target of Iran-backed terrorists in the region and rough weather repeatedly damaged the pier or made it necessary to move the pier to protected waters off Israel’s coast. While it was always described as a “temporary” piece of infrastructure that was supposed to facilitate the delivery of humanitarian aid to residents of the enclave, the pier is now slated to be dismantled months earlier than initially anticipated as it has utterly failed to do what Biden said it would and only continues to endanger American service members (Townhall). FDD: U.S. To Reportedly Dismantle Gaza Aid Pier as Early as July (X).

GOP Criticizes Biden’s Amnesty Bill as Spokesman Claims: "They've gotten this wrong"
Fox News: Top House Republicans are criticizing President Biden’s new executive order that’s expected to shield as many as 500,000 illegal immigrants from deportation. “President Biden’s election-year, 11th-hour ploy for mass amnesty is not surprising, but it is an important reminder for anyone who doubted: This administration was never serious about securing the border,” House Homeland Security Committee Chair Mark Green, R-Tenn., told Fox News. Biden unveiled a plan on Tuesday aimed at giving undocumented spouses of U.S. citizens a pathway to permanent residency if they have lived in the U.S. for at least 10 years and satisfy legal requirements. In addition to protecting a half million undocumented spouses, the order also protects 50,000 noncitizens under age 21 whose parent is married to a U.S. citizen, the administration said (Fox News). RNC Research: CBS: How do you square mass amnesty for illegals with polls that show two-thirds of Americans support mass criminal illegal alien deportations? Top Biden advisor Tom Perez: “They’ve gotten this wrong” (X).

Retail Store Closures Increase by 24% in a Single Year
Just the News: More companies are declaring bankruptcy and shutting down operations, citing inflation and high costs. Inflation and the economy remains a top issue among all voters, according to a recent The Center Square Voters’ Voice Poll. Retailers are closing nearly 3,200 stores this year, according to a recent analysis from CoreSight Research. The closures are a 24% increase from 2023. U.S. drug stores and pharmacy closures led to 8 million square feet of shuttered retail space this year, the research company said. It also notes that retailers are losing inventory and customers due to retail theft. “Retail shrink” is closely connected to “organized retail crime,” it notes (Just the News). CBS: Blame changing consumer habits, as well as retailers’ management struggles and bankruptcies, with the latter impacting companies including Rite Aid and Rue21. The largest number of store closures stems from Dollar Tree’s announcement earlier this year that it plans to close more than 600 Family Dollar locations in 2024, with the discount store citing the impact of inflation on its customers as well as an increase in shoplifting (CBS).

Climate Radicals Deface Stonehenge
Spencer Brown: Self-proclaimed climate warriors targeted Stonehenge on Wednesday for their latest stunt in a string of vandalism attacks that, for reasons that can’t be understood, are supposed to save the planet. Or something. The two individuals from “Just Stop Oil” sprayed an orange substance on the iconic stone monument west of London that, according to the group, is a demand that the U.K. sign a pact to “phase out fossil fuels by 2030” (Townhall). More Democrats to Boycott Netanyahu’s Speech to Congress
Townhall: Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu will address Congress on July 24. The bipartisan invitation was signed on not just by Speaker Mike Johnson (R-LA) and Senate Minority Leader Mitch McConnell (R-KY), but also by House Minority Leader Hakeem Jeffries (D-NY) and Senate Majority Leader Chuck Schumer (D-NY). From the start, though, there were Democrats who made clear they would boycott the speech, and more names kept coming in. Speaker Emerita Nancy Pelosi (D-CA) expressed earlier this month that “it’s very sad” and “wrong” to invite Netanyahu (Townhall). Reporter Craig Caplan: McConnell on Netanyahu’s July 24 address to Congress: “Next month, a growing list of elected Democrats will boycott a joint session of Congress welcoming the dually elected leader of the world’s only Jewish state & only democracy in that region. Their plans, of course, are predictable” (X). CNN Reporter Manu Raju: “No,” Elizabeth Warren on whether she will attend Benjamin Netanyahu’s address to Congress (X). Reporter Matthew Foldi: I asked Speaker Johnson about Democrats boycotting Netanyahu’s speech. “So be it,” Johnson said. If Democrats want to side with terrorists, that’s their prerogative.  “No Republicans will skip it,” he says (X).

Vladimir Putin Signs Defensive Pact With North Korean Leader Kim Jong Un
National Review: Russia and North Korea formalized their alliance during a Wednesday summit as Vladimir Putin and Kim Jong-un signed a strategic deal that includes a vow of mutual aid if either country is attacked. The details of the deal were not immediately clear, but North Korean and Russian leaders announced that it would cover security, trade, investment, and cultural and humanitarian ties, marking the strongest connection between the two powers since the Soviet Union’s collapse in 1991 at the end of the Cold War. It is a product of Putin’s two-day North Korea visit — his first to the country in 24 years (National Review). CNN: Putin said joint drills involving the United States, South Korea and Japan were “hostile” toward North Korea,” characterizing the US policy as “confrontational.” Kim, meanwhile, called the new “alliance” a “watershed moment in the development of the bilateral relations” (CNN).

Daily Wire: Tyson Foods, the U.S.-based meat supplier that’s grown to be one of the world’s largest companies, offered shirts to employees for this its annual Juneteenth celebrations that literally cross out “July 4” as the nation’s Independence Day. Emails obtained by The Daily Wire show the poultry industry giant selling shirts for its annual Juneteenth celebration that say the holiday, marking the day in 1865 that African Americans in Texas learned that slavery had been abolished in the United States, is the nation’s true independence day. “Juneteenth is my Independence Day,” reads one shirt offered, while another, under a crossed out July 4 date, states, “Juneteenth 1865 because my ancestors weren’t free in 1776.” Many of the shirts also incorporate the black power fist (Daily Wire). California’s Legislative Black Caucus Goes on Blitz to Promote 14 Reparations Bills
Washington Examiner: California is struggling to figure out how to deal with a massive budget deficit and reparations the state Democrats are looking to turn into law. The Golden State is contending with a $68 billion deficit, a loss mostly due to a decline in revenue during fiscal 2023. Still, it has been recommended the state pay out reparations, with some estimates predicting it could be on the hook for nearly $800 billion paid out, which is three times as high as a typical budget for California (Washington Examiner). Cal Matters: Several members of California’s Legislative Black Caucus launched a statewide tour in San Diego Saturday to promote a slate of 14 reparations bills, including a measure that could change the state constitution to end forced prison labor. That measure and several others designed to mitigate the effects of racism and slavery will face important legislative deadlines in the next two weeks. The Black Caucus’ 14 reparations bills tackle education, business, criminal justice, health care and civil rights, and include two proposed constitutional amendments that they hope to place before voters in November (Cal Matters).
