Today marks Juneteenth, the commemoration of the end of slavery in the United States. On this day in 1865, the 250,000 enslaved people in Texas were finally free.

Our work toward a more just society is never over. We must continue to work together to end racism and inequity in our communities in Oregon and across the country.
