Dear Neighbor, I hope you are well! I wanted to take this opportunity to update you on several happenings in the district as well as Harrisburg.

A Note on Next Week’s Session

With next week being the last week of June, I will be in Harrisburg with my fellow legislators to finalize budget discussions and hopefully pass a budget on time that invests in public education, supports our working families, and strengthens our economy for every Pennsylvanian. I will keep you updated on the budget progress throughout the week in the following email and of course on social media. You can also follow along with budget discussions on YouTube or watch session live here.  

Juneteenth

Happy Juneteenth!

Today we mark the anniversary of the emancipation of the last enslaved peoples from Galveston, Texas in 1865 and celebrate what it truly means to be free. We honor those who came before us in the fight to end slavery and recommit ourselves to honor their sacrifices and continue the work of equality for all.

My district office was closed today in observance of this holiday. If you contacted the office in need of state-related assistance, my staff and I will be back in the district office tomorrow at 9:30AM. 

Summer VETFest

The Coatesville VA is hosting their Summer VETFest this Saturday, June 22nd! This veteran and family event will have food, games, and important healthcare information for veterans. For additional information, click here.

Montgomery County Hazardous Waste Collection

Montgomery County is hosting a Household Hazardous Waste Collection Event this Saturday, June 22nd at Norristown Area High School on 1900 Eagle Drive, Norristown. For more information about what you can and cannot dispose of, click here.

Heat Wave Precautions

The high temperatures we’ve seen so far this week are only expected to get worse as we head into the weekend. Please limit outdoor activity, take breaks often if you are outside, check on your neighbors, and never leave your pets or children unattended in a vehicle. Long exposure to heat can cause heat exhaustion or heat stroke which can lead to hospitalization or death. Make sure you know the symptoms and take precautions, as necessary.

Please continue to stay safe, healthy and well-informed.
