Today, we celebrate Juneteenth, the day the Emancipation Proclamtaion was announced in Galveston, Texas—over two years after it was first ordered—and people who were enslaved finally learned that they were free. This is a pivotal date in our country's long, ongoing struggle to achieve equal justice.

In Baltimore County and across the country, Americans must honestly confront the legacy of historical injustices and reaffirm our commitment to ensuring equity for all.
Let's celebrate the progress we have made and honor those who fought for it. But let us also remember that the work is not done. Together, we will continue fighting for equtiy and racial justice for all.
In solidarity,
Team Johnny O
