My opponent, Rep. Jack Bergman, and other Republicans want to reduce food assistance for millions of Americans by depleting SNAP benefits from the Farm Bill. 
 
SNAP costs $6 per day for each American struggling with hunger. Meanwhile, Bergman charged taxpayers $79 per day for his own meal reimbursements, the highest among all members of Congress.

Ironic. A wealthy senior who receives government assistance for his meals believes that seniors in poverty shouldn't receive support. Help me get to Congress to cut Jack Bergman off.

Over the past three years, I have had the privilege of visiting numerous small farms in Northern Michigan and the UP. One thing is clear - Rural agriculture thrives when we invest in programs that prioritize sustainability and people.

Republicans and Democrats have introduced different proposals for the Farm Bill, and the GOP version is trying to make it harder for seniors, children, and people with disabilities to receive food assistance.

Rather than cutting these programs, the American people want Congress to focus on why so many Americans need supplemental nutrition assistance and address issues like low wages, inadequate childcare, and a lack of accessible healthcare.

Our mission is clear.

This is why the Farm Bill matters.
