John,

Today is a day to celebrate emancipation and the progress we as a nation
have made since 1865. However, we mustn't forget the path still ahead.

This Juneteenth, I am reflecting on the long shadow of systemic racism in
America. The statistics don’t lie about the effects of this shadow on
Black Americans today.

Studies show that Black Americans are statistically more likely to:

* Experience a violent encounter with law enforcement.^1
* Face harsher sentencing.^2
* Have shorter life expectancies than their white counterparts.^3

When I entered the Senate, I made a commitment to work towards building a
more just and fair nation. Our work continues and lives depend on it.

PA always stands by the unshakeable truth that Black families matter +
Black lives matter.

In solidarity,

❤️ John
