Happy Juneteenth, John!
Today we celebrate liberation and the resilience of Black Americans. Let’s recommit to removing barriers that keep every Black American from being a full and equal participant in our democracy!
38 states now have voter ID laws — the most in our history. We know these laws disproportionately affect and disenfranchise Black voters, who are less likely to have the specific types of ID required in many states.
If we hope to create an inclusive and multiracial democracy, every eligible voter must be able to participate.
That’s our mission at VoteRiders: We are helping people overcome the barriers created by voter ID laws to ensure that every eligible voter can vote, regardless of race, income, education level, or living situation. That means reaching out with information on voter ID rules and following up with free, one-on-one help getting ID if a voter doesn’t have one.
That’s our commitment to liberation on Juneteenth — and all year.
Thank you for being a part of our mission as we build an inclusive democracy together.
Sincerely,
Sylvester Johnson III
