John,

Juneteenth is an important day of commemoration for the ending of slavery in the United States and the inalienable freedom of African Americans. In celebration of this year’s Emancipation Day anniversary, we want to encourage Ruth’s List supporters to take direct action today by supporting Black women in leadership throughout Florida.

True equity is only possible if our government and leadership is truly representative of the people it serves. By recruiting and training Black women to run for office, we are working to build and diversify the bench of elected leaders in Florida. It is essential that we elevate Black women who are leading and serving their communities as a part of this mission.

Juneteenth is an excellent opportunity to help out the campaign of a Black woman seeking to serve your local community. Please see below for our list of Ruth’s List endorsed Black women candidates that are on the ballot this year. We encourage you to support them by donating to their campaigns, or contact them to see how else you can help them in their election.
