Dear John,

In reflecting on Juneteenth, I am inspired by the spirit of hope and
determination that it embodies. It reminds us that change is possible,
justice is worth fighting for, and that the journey towards a more just
and equitable society is a collective effort.

Juneteenth is often presented as a story of news of the Emancipation
Proclamation traveling slowly to the Deep South and Texas, but
Juneteenth is an example of power traveling slowly, and of freedom being
seized. The legacy of Juneteenth shows the value of Black communities
never giving up hope in uncertain times.

For nearly twenty years, people have been coming together at Facing Race
cultivating the power of Black-led solutions

We need our community at Facing Race. And that means all of us, not just
those who can afford it. Your donation directly allows us to send
grassroots organizers, artists, policy and movement makers to Facing
Race. People who need community–in a collaborative space where they join

When building collective power, we take one step towards building a
racially just world. When our communities come together to create our
solutions, we dismantle racially unjust narratives, policies, and
practices. Thus, the theme for Facing Race 2024 is "Our Power, Our
Solutions." Even our 2024 conference location, St. Louis, MO stands as a
testament to resilience, innovation, and community spirit.

Facing Race is dedicated to fostering a cooperative space, unifying
individuals across communities, and working collectively towards a
racially just world. Let this Juneteenth be a day of remembrance,
celebration, and renewed commitment to building a better future.

Thank you for your consideration
