We hope that we'll see you at Take Back Tech, set for June 21-23 in Chicago! And if you are looking for another convening to attend this month, we recommend the 2024 Alliance for Community Media (ACM) Conference ([link removed]) hosted by CreaTV at Open San José in California.

From June 25-27, the conference will bring together many community media practitioners to celebrate the work of community media organizations. Attendees can look forward to insightful workshops and technical presentations, culminating in the highly anticipated Hometown Media Awards ([link removed]) celebration on June 26.

The ACM is a national membership organization that protects and promotes the work of community television and community media across the United States.

Take a look at the agenda ([link removed]) — you'll see that Jai Dulani (aka Dulani), National Political Education Manager at MediaJustice will be speaking on the following panel alongside Ellina Yin, CEO and Founder of Only in San Jose, and Nolan Higdon of UCSC and Cal State.

Media Literacy; Community Media Centers and Mis/Disinformation
We have seen a significant increase in mis and dis-information over the last several years. The communities we serve are not often equipped to know what is authentic, accurate information. This can have negative effects on elections, public health, and the wellbeing of our communities. Community Media Centers have been on the forefront of media literacy for decades. In this panel we'll answer the question "How can we leverage this expertise and provide tools for the next level of media literacy, combating mis and dis-information?"

There will be over 30 sessions at the conference, and full conference and single day registration options available. There will also be additional events and activities, such as a Bus Tour to Bay Area Video Coalition (BAVC); a tour of the Internet Archives; a Guided Mural Walk and more.

We hope to see you at 2024 ACM!

In Solidarity,
MediaJustice
