Hey John,
******************
I am up for re-election in the next federal election, that might
be in November or early next year, depending on when the
government think it has the best chance of being re-elected.
Cards on the table I need your help to win my seat again.
The Jacqui Lambie Network is powered by people like you.
I only ever ask people to donate if they can spare the money. Too
many Australians are doing it tough, and although the changes to
the Stage three tax cuts (which I campaigned hard for) are good,
more is needed to help Aussie families thrive.
But if you feel like you can help me by donating I would like to
let you know that any amount up to $1,500.00 is tax deductible if
that donation is made before June 30th.
I am off to Canberra next week for the last Senate sitting before
the mid-winter break. It’s going to be a busy two weeks. My team
is busy going through the bills and looking at amendments so we
can make these bill better!
In November the second part of the government’s industrial
relations legislation passed the parliament. I lobbied hard to
get this bill split, so the non-controversial parts could be
passed quickly, and we could work on the rest of it. Working with
the cross bench we got important exemptions for small business,
including $20 million to help them work through the changes.
In January this year, I spent ten days in Kangaroo Valley taking
part in the Veteran Mentors Junior Leadership program. It was
amazing seeing what these veteran mentors do with kids and
parents to put them on the right path.
Since the beginning of 2023 I have been chairing the Senate’s
Disaster Resilience Committee which will deliver its final report
in the coming weeks. What I have learnt is that we can’t keep
using the ADF to mop up! Climate change weather events are seeing
more and more communities threatened by bushfires and floods.
Councils often have to do the heavy lifting and volunteer
organisations need new members. What I want to do is to look at
Australia having a national guard, a bit like America’s. My team
and I are still working through how this could work, and we are
looking at countries like the US and Denmark for inspiration. To
be clear I am not talking about bringing back conscription. I
want to engage all Australians, young and old, in this
conversation, but I do believe that if you’re not learning or
earning, you could be serving the country.
Thanks for taking the time to read this email and please don’t
hesitate to send me your thoughts! I will keep working hard and
standing up for all Australians.
