In the spirit of solidarity, we continue to directly serve survivors and discuss how COVID-19 affects people experiencing gender-based violence in our prevention and education efforts. Even though we have closed our two physical centers due to the shelter-at-home order, we remain committed to providing critical services- our support staff are still here to support survivors.

Our intention is to help connect the dots between gender-based violence as a public health issue and the current global pandemic. We want to ensure that human experiences are centered in the coverage rather than only focusing on statistics. Peace Over Violence and Denim Day remain committed to uplifting survivors’ experiences and working with you in advancing the prevention work, advocacy, and direct support to everyone impacted by domestic and sexual violence.
We are mid-way through the month of April and we continue to build upon our solidarity efforts. Beginning today, we will focus on expressions of solidarity with our advocates and first responders. Peace Over Violence is one of thousands of gender-based violence organizations in the United States. We are first responders central to our communities’ safety and well-being. Day in and day out, our staff continue to do the work needed to support survivors to not only heal, but to thrive during our shelter-in-place context. We are also vital leaders of and participants in social movements that seek to transform systems and culture to build a just, dignified and violence-free world. Join us for the next week as we share thoughts on what solidarity with our advocates and emergency responders can look like, including uplifting testimonies from survivors and our volunteers and staff.

Denim Day 101: The Virtual Edition

We'll be joined by community leaders, survivors, advocates & friends to recognize this important day. Don't forget to wear jeans with a purpose to spread the message that there is no excuse and never an invitation to harass, abuse, assault, or rape.
