*OJJDP Joins the Nation in Commemorating Juneteenth*
President Biden proclaimed [ [link removed] ] June 19, 2024, as Juneteenth Day of Observance. Juneteenth marks the effective end of slavery in the United States, more than two years after the Emancipation Proclamation was signed.

OJJDP is honored to join the Nation in celebrating this historical milestone and is committed to advancing racial equity and fairness. OJJDP's Title II Formula Grants Programs [ [link removed] ] helps states identify and reduce racial and ethnic disparities [ [link removed] ]among system-involved youth. The Office also awarded $1.5 million to establish the Center for Reducing Racial and Ethnic Disparities in Juvenile Justice [ [link removed] ], launched in May 2024. The Center will provide training, technical assistance, and resources to juvenile justice practitioners.
