Last week, the U.S. Supreme Court unanimously ruled that a group of anti-abortion physicians did not have standing to challenge the FDA's actions related to the approval of mifepristone. This is good news for now, and mifepristone will remain on the market and without new restrictions.
But attacks on abortion medication aren’t over yet. The case will be sent back down to federal district court judge Matthew Kacsmaryk, who has already allowed the states of Kansas, Missouri, and Idaho to intervene in the case. And millions are still blocked from accessing abortion care in the 21 states with abortion bans.
Abortion opponents will stop at nothing to deny patients care, but they can't change the truth: mifepristone is safe, effective, and should be accessible to everyone.
We've been clear this whole time: Mifepristone is a safe and effective medicine. And keeping mifepristone available is critical to protecting abortion access nationwide.
