Pride Month should be a celebration of our neighbors and communities.

As the only IA Senator that’s openly part of the LGBTQ+ community, I feel both the joy and pain of LGBTQ+ folks here in Iowa. 

IA Senate Dems are committed to protecting the safety of all our communities, regardless of their gender, identity or background. But we cannot do that while far-right Republicans hold the majority in our state Senate, John. Will you chip in any amount today to help us flip 10 seats by 2029 and take back that majority?

Studies have shown that LGBTQ+ individuals are 9x more likely than non-LGBTQ+ individuals to be the victims of violent crime. 

Experts have stated that the usage of anti-LGBTQ+ rhetoric and behaviors embolden individuals to carry out hate crimes against the community. 

So when our Republican-controlled legislature tries to push bills that would end legal recognition of transgender folks and make the ban of debunked conversion therapies illegal, it doesn’t come without repercussions.

Their hate-driven agenda comes with a real cost, John.

We need to reaffirm our commitment to preventing hate-fueled attacks from happening. Will you join the IA Senate Dems in fighting for a safe future for all our communities?
