Hello,
As Pennsylvania Lieutenant Governor John Fetterman said on Twitter, "Pennsylvania is flattening this curve, because YOU are."
While the number of daily new cases of COVID-19 has continued to rise in many places, states like Pennsylvania, where our governor showed real leadership in implementing social distancing measures, are starting to see the numbers plateau.
However, these measures would mean nothing if people like you didn't follow the guidelines recommended by our state and local leaders and the public health experts at the CDC. You've washed your hands frequently, covered your coughs and sneezes, limited your travel to essential trips, and worn masks in public to protect others in your community.
Thank you for doing what you can on the ground to keep your families and your neighbors safe as I continue to work on plans to stop the pandemic and provide relief in Washington.
It's important to remember, however, that even though we're flattening the curve, we can't return to normal too quickly and risk worsening this crisis. Public health experts and scientists agree that staying the course right now is essential, but there are still options to seek help and help others.
Calling 211 is a great way to find out about local resources and opportunities to safely volunteer. Blood banks desperately need your donations of blood or financial support. Organizations like Get Us PPE are working to get protective equipment to frontline healthcare workers as shortages continue.
This is a difficult time for everyone, and we all want the same thing: to put this pandemic behind us as soon as possible. It's crucial to remember that the best way to end this crisis is to stick with what's already working. We are all in this together.
Thank you for doing your part,
Bob
