In this video, I discuss the reasons why contraception is not a solution to the problem of abortion.

The truth is that sex has two main purposes:

1. Procreation

2. Powerful bonding between the man and woman

Everything about sex makes sense with these two purposes in mind. Violating the natural procreative and unitive design of sex opens the door to a host of problems.

While procreation does not take place every time, the openness to life is what must be present for the act to be a total gift of self.

Contraception disconnects sex from procreation and from love. It becomes easier to see the other person as an object to be used for pleasure.

The availability of contraception encourages sexual encounters between people who are not committed to one another and who are not planning to be parents. And so when contraception fails and a woman becomes pregnant, the parents are far more likely to see that child with hostility rather than love.

This is the main reason why contraception does not reduce abortion. A contraceptive mindset leads to an abortion mindset when a child enters the picture unexpectedly.

Further, contraception presents an illusion that sex can be “casual” with no strings attached. This is contrary to the factual, natural bonding that takes place through sex.

This is why the natural unitive bonds of sex only make sense in the context of the marriage bond, in which the man and woman promise lifelong, faithful, public commitment to each other.

In the video, I also explain how harmful all forms of contraception are to women and how natural fertility awareness methods are in a different category and do not present the issues found in methods of contraception.

The topic of contraception is incredibly important, especially if we want to get to the heart of where the abortion mindset begins and why so many relationships and marriages are broken.
